Your Impact

As the modern world presses in, the Maasai must adapt — but every step forward threatens to erase their traditions, identity, and way of life.

Through powerful storytelling and access to the community, this film will shed light on the difficult choices the Maasai face — and the cultural cost of survival.

From the effects of climate change that threaten their pastoral way of life, to the difficult and often controversial conversations around women’s rights within a traditionally patriarchal society, to the growing pressure of land displacement as governments claim ancestral territory for national parks —

The Maasai Dilemma goes beyond surface-level observation to reveal the layered complexities of change.

About The Filmmaker

Christopher Tinard

I’m passionate about what I do: telling stories. I love every aspect of the storytelling process — from producing and interviewing to directing and editing. For me, great storytelling is about capturing something real, something that touches people’s hearts. I believe in the power of authenticity and in the unique magic that happens when compelling visuals meet powerful sound. Whether I’m working on a documentary or a marketing video, my goal is always the same: to create an emotional connection with the audience. Without emotion, all we do is scream into the wind.

Born in the suburbs of Paris, France, I moved to the United States in 1992 to pursue my dream of playing college basketball. In 1993, I received a full athletic scholarship to Montana State University – Billings. After finishing my college career, I returned to France to play professionally in Europe. In 2000, I took a trip to Arizona — and met my wife, Julie. It was love at first sight, and I never returned from that trip. Today, we have four incredible kids, each strong, passionate, and full of life. In 2004, I launched my production company, OrangeScreen Productions, with no formal experience — just a deep desire to learn and tell meaningful stories. Everything I know, I learned on the job. Since then, I’ve worked on nearly every type of project — from TV commercials and marketing videos to live broadcasts. The only thing I haven’t done is feature films. But my heart will always belong to documentaries. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of winning multiple awards for my work, and I’ve been nominated for a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award three times. While the recognition is meaningful, it’s the impact of the stories — and the people behind them — that keeps me inspired.
