A mysterious phenomenon strikes Earth, ripping time and space apart. Joe, a struggling salesman, is thrust into an apocalyptic landscape, separated from his only son. As he shifts between dimensions, space and time, from an 18th-century western town to southern antebellum United States, he discovers a rare Stasis Stone that offers stability in that world's erratic time traveling conundrum.
Joe grasps at any clue as to his son's whereabouts, forming tenuous alliances, and meeting an array of survivors - good, odd, or sometimes down right nasty. Amid the chaos, Joe finds glimmers of hope and love through Flo, a photographer from the future whose photos could be the key to finding his son. Despite sacrifice and near-death experiences, Joe persists, driven by the faint possibility of a better future.
